Manila — Members Church of God International Presiding Minister
Bro. Eliseo F. Soriano sends his condolences via the UNTV network
on the burial of Former President Corazon Aquino on Wednesday.
"I will not pray for the Former President Corazon
Aquino because her government is a reflection of integrity... the
kind of president and person she was," Bro. Soriano says
in a statement read by veteran broadcaster Jay Sonza during the
special live coverage by the media network last August 5.
Former President "Cory", who died of cancer on August
1, was the first to show the world that a dictatorial rule can end
without violence. With this achievement, she has been called as
"the icon of democracy" by many, and has become an
indelible political figure in the history of the world.
Sandra Burton of Time Asia says in her article about the late
president, "Aquino's achievements as President ranged far
beyond the symbolic... Yet it is her slight, bespectacled
embodiment of People Power—at once fragile and invincible—that
defines her hold on history. Her determination to 'lead by
example' helped restore Filipinos' faith in government—and
themselves." (read full article)
"There are others who need prayers from other
Filipinos. May her beloved children find peace and solace with the
Lord reserved for the unnoticed sincerity of the misunderstood
people in our society," Bro. Soriano notes.
"Our condolence to the family and supporters of the
honorable president, her excellency, Corazon Aquino," he
finishes.
