23 October 2009
APALIT, PAMPANGA - October 31, 2009 will mark as the 29th year of
the program Ang Dating Daan or known internationally as
The Old Path and it will have a live Worldwide Special
Anniversary Celebration in multiple venues such as the Araneta
Coliseum in Manila, and in other national and international venues.
The host venue will be the Ang Dating Daan Convention Center in
Apalit, Pampanga. The event will be hosted by the renowned Bro.
Eliseo Soriano, named by the public as The Only Sensible Preacher
of Our Time, and particularly by the congregants of Members of
Church of God International (MCGI) that he is leading.
Participating international venues stretch from Asia, Africa,
North and South America, Europe, to Australia, while regional
venues are in Isabela, Baguio, Cavite, Laguna, Lucena, Bicol,
Puerto Princesa, Cebu, Bacolod, Iloilo, Digos City, Tacloban,
Cagayan De Oro, Davao, and Zamboanga.
These remote venues will be able to participate in the event
through satellite and Internet streaming.
Ang Dating Daan TV program is famous for its unique presentation,
particularly with the Biblia ang Sasagot, Itanong Mo kay
Soriano (Ask Bro. Eli), a segment in Bible Expositions where
live audience can ask Bro. Eli any question regarding religion and
spirituality.
It is the only religious program that has this format. The way
Bro. Eli answers questions is another trademark of the show as
he often follows it with “Basa!” (Read!) – a cue to his
assistants to read the Bible that serves as his reference.
It was in 1980 when Ang Dating Daan first aired over the radio
station DWWA as a 30-minute religious program and eventually over
the radio program of Manolo Favis, Dis is Manolo and His Genius
Family.
In 1983, the program started its television broadcast through the
facilities of IBC 13. Series of events lead the program to
transfer from one TV station to another. First aired on IBC 13,
then on RJTV 29, SBN 21, and presently on UNTV 37.
Today, Ang Dating Daan nears its third decade and is being
broadcast in North America, South America, Europe, Africa,
Australia, and in every part of Asia. This is through the
satellite channels and Internet broadcast.
In 2006, Gawad Amerika Awards hailed Ang Dating Daan as the Most
Informative Religious Program of the Year. Words by Robert Clarita
