Pampanga, Philippines – Dismayed and alarmed of the extent reached by the Atheist Bus Campaign in London, United Kingdom, Bro. Daniel Razon, MCGI Vice-Presiding Minister, reported that the atheist groups are now on U.S. shores waving a new slogan, "You can be good without God."
Speaking before the Members Church of God International (MCGI) during the congregation’s weekly Thanksgiving to God ceremony in Pampanga last May 30, Bro. Razon called on for people to read the Bible everyday and to live by it. He noted that Christians must show these non-believers that there are biblical bases to believe that God really exists.
He refuted the atheists’ propaganda that people can be good without God. Reading Mark 10:17-18, he taught the congregation how to disprove the atheist belief. The verses say:
“And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.”
The Lord Jesus Christ Himself said that no one is good but One, that is God. How can someone without God be good when God is the One that is good? This is the point Razon clearly explained. To prove this, he read Psalms 100:5 –
“For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.”
Razon encourages people to know for themselves these pieces of information by reading the Bible in order to eradicate the kind of ignorance the atheists have embraced. Citing the following verses—I Timothy 4:13, Romans 15:4, Revelations 1:3, Colossians 4:16, Acts 17:11, I Corinthians 10:11 and Deuteronomy 6:7—he exhorted the listeners that reading the Holy Scriptures is what God wills for people.
His respect for the Bible is a value Bro. Razon is thankful of that his mentor—the phenomenal preacher, Bro. Eliseo Soriano—has instilled in him. Bro. Soriano is the Presiding Minister of MCGI and the award-winning host of Ang Dating Daan (The Old Path), the longest-running religious program in the Philippines.
Known as Kuya Daniel (Big Brother Daniel) and Mr. Public Service, Razon earned the monikers from years of public service, charities, and advocacies to empower people to do good. He is one of the founders of the first-of-its-kind Free Transient Homes in Metro Manila and Pampanga, in cooperation with Kamanggagawa (Co-Worker) Foundation, to provide temporary shelter to less-privileged citizens. In the Philippines, he is popular host of several programs produced by the UNTV media network.
His other projects include the free bus rides, free Metro Rail Transit tickets for the elderly, free medical and dental assistance, and free legal consultations. All these are being provided daily.
Bro. Daniel Razon also initiated several feeding programs in some impoverished areas in the Philippines. He supports various orphanages and provides relief assistance to victims of calamities and disasters.
Recently, through the suggestion of Bro. Soriano, Bro. Razon launched a scholarship project for the poor but deserving students of nursing and mass communications. The scholarship grant covers everything from tuition fee to uniforms and even lunch.
In UNTV, Bro. Razon hosts a program called Munting Pangarap (Little Dream) which helps poor people to have a sustainable means of living. Another one is Good Morning, Kuya!, his early-morning show, where he unceasingly extends genuine public service to everyone asking for help. His other programs in the station include Spotlight and Mapalad ang Bumabasa (Blessed is He Who Reads), where he reads a chapter of the Bible each episode.
An advocacy he launched recently called \"Isang Araw Lang” (Just One Day) aims to inspire everyone to do good deeds even just for one day. Thanks to this campaign one of the 30 dirtiest rivers in the world, the Sapang Alat River in Metro Manila, got cleaned in just one day when some 2,000 youth responded to Kuya Daniel’s call.
All these advocacies and charitable acts manifest Bro. Daniel Razon’s resistance against the atheist movement of convincing people not to worry and to just enjoy life by believing that there is no God (and yet God has been ever so alive in their slogans!). While morality is steadily declining, his projects and advocacies become more visible, addressing economic problems, environmental issues, and matters of spiritual substance.
His call to read the Bible daily may be a challenge for many, but with all the good things one may learn from it, reading the Bible is truly a duty, a holy commandment that everyone must observe.
Now that is a campaign truly worth seeing on buses, everywhere.
