Title: My New Home
contributed by: wintersonata, August 18, 2009
Apalit.
I have visited the place 4 years ago for our yearly thanksgiving to God. I don't fully knew the place very well. Even, now, except that this very place is the center of activities the Church of God, International [MCGI] do whether in propagation, in thanksgiving, in mass indoctrinations and baptism. If my memory serves me well. I haven't seen fine buildings before. All where but forms much like a skeleton, no skin and all but already had that sort of shape. The place is humble because it had no flashy, extravagant, picture perfect things for the eyes and many people have lived inside the compound are not well-off let alone rich people, the likes of Makati's and Diliman's. No big beautiful buildings adorned the compound rather simple edifices that would hold people in for Church assemblies, and in gatherings for the study of the words of God. These buildings were constructed just to shield people from sun and the rain. Back then I used to get my free food in one dilapidated building where they used to baked bread [oftentimes, I get it for free, if you work for them, say a couple or two] and also served as one of the those kitchen's [there were 2 more kitchen I know at that moment] where bro. Eli used to cooked food for the people. Residents inside can avail for the free food. They served two times a day that is lunch and dinner. The food were good and alternately different, they have different menus each day. But not the same thing, say, mongooses and sardines for the rest of eternity [well that would be better off than nothing at all. grin*]
And here since am back again, the place is still the same but those skeletons were gone. It had now -- a soul. There were trees around and miniature plaza, the surrounding is tamed unlike before its like a wild grass, and new constructed buildings erected. This houses poor families for free [the poorest] and for the aged abandoned by their families because of their inefficiency to support their own where being taken cared off in the transient home. The free food have never died down even to this very time. You can still avail. And for one good thing? It is for free.
I am amazed how from 4 years time it became much different from before. Still, it was not the best but I can say it had a beauty on its own. Many have given their ill-taunts especially of those devoid of compassion and are nothing but vain people who mocks the Church of God, International [why can't they just let us live?].
The house of worship were for private prayers done by the members. Believing that it should be private aside from doing in on their own house or in condominium units, the Administration which by Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel spearheaded the project and this is the result, the brethren can have private communion to God in an appointed place, what's more? It is in accordance with the Bible and in order too. Not the very least is the covered court, a prototype reminiscent of Noah's ark for it was of same exact measure like what old Noah did in building the ark, itself, the very building where brethren of MCGI's offered thanksgiving during Saturdays and the quarterly 3 day affair Thanksgiving to God.
What they don't know despite the plainness of beauty of the compound is that residents are close knitted nuclear like family which is not present in town houses and in the poshishs subdivisions. People who take their residence inside are meek people and they live life very brotherly like. As for me this is what I called home.
Apalit is a peaceful community and a safe haven for poor people, of those who were abandoned by their families and orphans like me. I just loved the feeling when am here but say, time changes but I think people here still haven't change. That because of Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel's painstakingly and with all diligence serves as anchor and vanguards of faith unrelenting through the years, keep this 'attitude of indifference' checked.
One more thing that makes Apalit a different place from the rest? It had a 24/7 choral singers singing nonstop for the Glory of God!
Praise be to God!
